What is the Loudoun Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build Program?

Loudoun Habitat for Humanity is joining other affiliates throughout the United States in the Veterans Build initiative. Loudoun Habitat for Humanity is actively addressing the lack of affordable housing by partnering with military service members, their families, and veterans to help build and repair affordable housing. The Veterans Build program works to empower veterans through five pillars: Build, Educate, Employ, Engage and Honor.

Build

Through new construction, rehabs, repairs and barrier free renovations provide simple, decent, affordable housing and homeownership opportunities for military service members, veterans, their families and families of the fallen.

Employ

Capitalize on skill sets gained from military service with recruitment targeting veteran employees, board members and extended volunteers, national service members, interns and fellows.

Volunteer Engagement

Engage service members, veterans, their families, families of the fallen and Habitat's civilian supporters to serve and honor veterans together in volunteer opportunities and veteran focused advocacy.

Educate

Provide veterans with access to financial education programs that support sustainable homeownership and promote a better understanding of military/veteran culture among Habitat's civilian supporters.

Honor

Identify opportunities to honor service members, veterans, their families and families of the fallen (Veterans Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc.).
